LEÓN, a privileged land.
Our
province is located to the northwest of the Iberian
Peninsula, with an approximated length of 15,468
km2, with a great diversity of landscapes, especially
mountains, valleys and plains.
The Leon climate varies widely, with very
cold winters where it often snows, with a short
Spring, irregular and rainy at times, a short
but pleasant Summer and a long and nice Autumn.

We have some heavy snowfalls in winter

There are also in our province other peculiarities
like arts and crafts, where it´s still possible
to find people who are working "in jobs of
the past" - knifegrinders, fine ham cutters,
blacksmiths, tinsmiths.-, in old traditions, like
the traditional slaughter of the pig or local
folklore, sports - for example “Lucha Leonesa”
(Wrestling from León) -, and many more
activities in which the man and woman from León
are
the main point of attraction.
And what about the gastronomy, merging
point of the different cultures of our province,
with great variety and quality as the main features.
A good example of the gastronomic culture are
the food farming companies, like the Ferju C.B.
Company.

Embutidos
y salazones FERJU is
located in Pobladura de Pelayo Garcia,
a village in the south-west of the province,
in a region called El Paramo, and contiguous
to the River Esla bank.
Pobladura de Pelayo García, with
20.2 km2, a population of 717 inhabitants
and 35.5 of inhabitants per km2, it´s
a good example of small villages that
are struggling to improve the quality
level of their food farming products in
the province of Leon.
